A festive, small-town romance novella for those who love their love stories with a dash of magical realism.

Ruby Lawson has spent the last year watching her carefully planned life fall apart.

Back in her small hometown, living with her parents and wondering where everything went wrong, Ruby feels like she has hit rock bottom.

Then, on one lonely Christmas night out, Ruby makes a very embarrassing mistake: she climbs into the wrong car, convinced she’s found a taxi.

The driver is gorgeous. Mysterious. And, as it turns out, very much not a taxi driver.

His name is Hudson.

What starts as an awkward encounter soon becomes the kind of summer romance Ruby thought only happened in movies. Late-night adventures. Deep talks while watching the waves in their coastal town. Laughter she’d forgotten she was capable of. And a man who makes her believe that maybe the life she thought she’d lost was never out of reach after all.

But when something feels too good to be true, can it really last?

Ruby thought Hudson was the beginning of her second chance.

She just never imagined how much she would have to lose to find out if their love was real.
